The First Annual General Meeting of the Society for Genomics Policy and Population Health

The First Annual General Meeting of the Society for Genomics Policy and Population Health was held on Tuesday, 31 October 2006 at the Institute of Child Health, London.

Professor Theresa Marteau, the Professor of Health Psychology and Director of the Psychology and Genetics Research Group at King's College, London gave a talk: ‘Does genetic risk information motivate behaviour change?

Dr Rooth Loos who is currently leading the obesity genetics programme at the MRC Epidemiology Unit in Cambridge, followed with a talk entitled 'Nutrigenetics '.

At the First Annual General Meeting the name, purpose, election of President and Council were discussed. Minutes from the meeting are available for download.

In the afternoon, Alison Hall, Research Associate from Public Health Genetics Unit spoke about ‘Consent, confidentiality and the Human Tissue Act ’.

Professor Tony Moore from the Institute of Ophthalmology, UCL, London rounded off the day with an enaging talk about genetic eye disease, ‘Genetics in Ophthalmology
