IntroductionThe Society for Genomics Policy and Population Health is an independent association of those with a professional interest in population and policy implications of genetics and science. It was formally established at an inaugural meeting in October 2006 at which its Council was elected. AffiliationThe Society is currently administered as an independent association but aims for endorsement as a Special Interest Group by The British Society for Human Genetics (BSHG) in due course. ActivitiesThe Society aims to promote interdisciplinary discussion and provide a forum for such discussion through its website and by holding at least one meeting held annually for members. Organisational StructureThe SGPPH is administered by a Council consisting of an elected President (holding office for two years) and officers and members holding office for three years. Official DocumentsMembershipMembership of SGPPH is open to individuals, and an annual subscription fee is usually payable. However from July 2009 members are invited to join or renew their membership of the society for a 7 month period until April 2010 at a subscription fee of £8.75.
